ERASMUS+ at GVID

📌About us:

At this moment we have 52 teachers, all of whom have professionally qualified, full-time programs to a total of 614 students across 20 classes.

At our school, there are two fields of study: a four-year program , focused on general secondary education, and a six-year program, which puts emphasis on IT and programming.

Within our school framework, there is an autonomous student body called the Student parliament, which enables students to actively engage in school events and to further represent the opinions of students. The Student parliament also organises a wide range of events throughout the year.

Our school also offers extracurricular activities, such as our renowned choir “Mladí madrigalisté”, which dates back to year 1971, and has received a great deal of awards and recognitions, and a theater club, where our students attend plays, and get to share their experiences with peers.

The students can also take part in programs such as Erasmus+, DofE, eTwinning projects, and competitions like SOČ (Secondary School Research), AO (Astronomy Olympiad), BiO (Biology Olympiad), and more.

As a school, we are involved in a long-distance adoption project, and also organise and partake in charity events, such as litter collection, an annual group blood donation, and others.

We also organise selective trips to foreign countries and sports courses, where students can further develop their skills.

In our school building, you can find a library, which already has around ten thousand titles, a canteen, a buffet and, among other things, a coffee machine :D.

📌Challenges we aim to address at GVID through the ERASMUS+ programme:

• Developing the language skills of educators necessary for international cooperation, which can bring new ideas and perspectives to our school.

• Increasing the school’s capacity to organise mobilities and to host students and teachers from partner schools.

• Supporting the personal and professional development of educators.

• Keeping up with new trends and modern technologies.

• Drawing inspiration to transform teaching methods, making lessons more interactive, up-to-date, and motivating for students – for example, through project-based learning, methods that foster creative thinking, critical thinking, and digital competencies.

• Implementing the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) method.

• Exploring how students in other countries are assessed, motivated, and what outcomes they achieve.

• Learning from the experiences of foreign schools in order to better support our students in becoming competitive in university admissions abroad and on the European job market.

• Identifying areas in which the school needs to develop.

• Equipping our students with the skills necessary to successfully navigate unfamiliar situations, understand and accept other cultures, and develop personal and professional flexibility in a constantly changing world. Based on first-hand experiences, we strive to strengthen their self-confidence, independence, and adaptability, reflected in their ability to respond appropriately to the challenges they face.

• Students: for group and short-term mobilities (no age restriction), and for long-term mobilities (students aged 15 and above).
